Our small town bustles with activity as the workday begins...

Often called The Gateway to the Hamptons, East Moriches sits on the western edge of the Long Island Pine Barrens region. The town is located approximately fifteen miles west of the beaches and night life of The Hamptons and is centered around the intersection of Montauk Highway (Route 27A) and Atlantic Ave. It is considered an upper-middle working class area with a population of approximately 4200 and a median income of around 63,000 dollars. Homes in the area are in short supply and currently range from $200,000 starter ranches to 3/4 million dollar waterfront estates. Many small businesses call East Moriches home and the town is, in alot of ways, a throwback to the days gone by. People still meet at the local delicatessen to buy Sunday morning breakfast and greet each other by their first names. We still "roll up the sidewalks" by 9 P.M. but our gas stations and area restaurants are open later. Ours is a one light town and that suits alot of us "locals" just fine. In the summer we get the inevitable in-flux of tourists, browsing through the antique shops that line Montauk Highway or lingering after dinner in one of our restaurants overlooking Moriches Bay. Fishing and boating are staples of the local economy. Our area is dotted with marinas and tackle shops, where you can launch or dock your boat, buy some bait and pick up directions to the fishing hot spots. So feel free to come visit us anytime...
